12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13: 12 NIV

Throughout scripture we can see how God invites us to take the mustard seed of faith and believe greater than what we can see and imagine. It is through our faith, that hope is not lost. The hope that our marriage will be restored, the hope that our finances can be rectified, the hope that our children can turn back to the ways of the LORD. I believe it is through hope that we can endure the struggles and difficulties of this broken world and continue to walk in faith, regardless of what we see with our eyes.
Throughout my marriage there have been seasons and years of great struggle. And prior to knowing Christ I had no place to put my hope. There was no solid rock, no firm foundation, no constant in my life that I could turn to to find hope in this ever persisting struggle. There was no constant reassurance that things would be brighter one day. And when I found Christ, I begun to recognise His persistent never changing, relentless presence that encouraged me to trust His word. He became my hope that one day, in this life of the next, there will be brighter days.
I believe there is a reassurance we can fall back on, that everything I desire that is good and pleasing to God is something He desires even more greatly than I do for myself. I believe He desires for us to have restored marriages, I believe He desires for us to have health and healing, I believe He desires for us to have generations of abounding children walking in the ways of the LORD. I believe from the depths of my being that God Himself desires this so much more greatly than we do for ourselves. Whatever you are hoping for, believe that our God will see it through. And find His rest knowing that He desires to bless you. Don’t lose hope. Believe that the desire He placed in our hearts will come through. Turn away from hardening our hearts from expectation and believe that our God has good things for His children. I believe God wants us to flourish in our lives and the pure desire He placed in our hearts is there by Him. It is through the struggle, and in the blessing His name can be glorified. It is in the valley, it is on the mountain top that God turns chaos to calm, confusion to clarity and struggle to breakthrough. But it begins with faith and believing that our God can do so much more exceedingly than expected or hoped for. And that hope has a name, and His name is Jesus.
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrew 4: 14-16 NIV
And as part of our faith, we are called to surrender our timing, our will and our ways for His greater will, His greater way and His greater timing. And trust that through our surrender He will come though. Don’t lose hope. Its a reminder to me that Jesus, our Saviour, went to the cross, surrendering His way to accomplish the work of the Father. He Himself, shows us that even in the pain and the struggle, even in the discomfort and the anguish, that He kept His eyes fixed on the joy set before Him. He did not despise the cross. That we can persevere in our faith, knowing that through our struggle we can continue to find hope in Jesus, knowing that all things work together for the benefit of those who love Him. Don’t lose Hope. And surrender, placing your dependence on Christ Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Hebrews 12: 2- 3 NIV
As believers of Christ, encourage one another in the body of Christ. Meditate on His word and believe that we serve a good God who desires good things for His children. I believe God has placed a mark on my heart, He has placed a mark on your heart to desire things in our lives that produce blessing for ourselves and our children’s children. But even more so, He desires to save our souls from the pit of destruction. He desires bondages to be broken, burdens to become blessings, and our struggle to be our testimony. Believe this for yourself. And through the chaos, choose gratitude over comparison and faith over doubt. He will do exceedingly abundantly more than you can ask or imagine. Don’t lose hope.
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7: 7-8 NIV
